Geometric Modeling And Algebraic Geometry

Product Description
The two fields of Geometric Modeling and Algebraic Geometry, though closely related, are traditionally represented by two almost disjoint scientific communities. Both fields deal with objects defined by algebraic equations, but the objects are studied in different ways. This contributed book presents, in 12 chapters written by leading experts, recent results which rely on the interaction of both fields. Some of these results have been obtained in the frame of the European GAIA II project (IST 2001-35512) entitled “Intersection algorithms for geometry-based IT applications using approximate algebraic methods”.

Product Description
UNIX has been evolving feverishly for close to 30 years, sort of like bacteria in a cesspool – only not as attractive. As a result, many different varieties of UNIX have existed along the way. Although they all share numerous characteristics, they differ just enough that even experienced users are tripped up by the differences between versions.

If youÂ’re like most UNIX users, a zealot stopped at your desk, connected your terminal or workstation, gave you five minutes of incomprehensible advice, demonstrated a few bizarre games (like roaches that hide behind the work on your screen), and disappeared. Now youÂ’re on your own.

DonÂ’t worry. UNIX For Dummies, 4th Edition, cuts through all the technojargon lurking in the UNIX command jungle to deliver clear instructions just how and when you need them. This indispensable reference includes sections on
# Typing commands
# Copying, renaming, and deleting files
# Printing files
# Finding where your file went
# Using the Internet from UNIX
# Connecting and communicating with people on other computers

Discover how to get your UNIX system’s attention, persuade it that you are allowed to use it, and even accomplish something useful as you find out how to
# Choose the right flavor of UNIX for you
# Set up and operate UNIX terminals
# Manage files, directories, and printing
# Use the Common Desktop Environment and other window systems
# Browse the Web, send and receive e-mail, and read Usenet newsgroups
# Deal with all the major versions of UNIX, including Berkeley UNIX, Solaris, and SunOS
# Troubleshoot and solve common problems

The expert writing team of John Levin and Margaret Levin Young also give you a look at the latest developments with Linux, the wildly popular, completely free version of UNIX – all in a single volume designed to put you in command with a computer system that can be tamed.

For many years, he wrote a monthly column for the bodybuilding magazines Muscle & Fitness and Flex. Headache Medicine Questions And Answers

“Headache Medicine: Questions and Answers” Dara G. Jamiesn, MD
Demos Medical Publishing | English | 2008-12-15 | ISBN: 1933864362 | 352 pages | PDF | 10,4 MB

Headache is the number one complaint that causes a patient to see a neurologist. Because headaches constitute such a large part of many clinicians practices, the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties created an annually-administered headache subspecialty exam in 2006.
Headache Medicine: Questions and Answers is the only question-and-answer book for the new headache subspecialty exam, with more than 500 questions, answers, explanations, and references to help readers self-assess their knowledge and to prepare for the subspecialty exam, as well as the neurology Board examination.
Headache Medicine: Questions and Answers covers everything from the basics of epidemiology and co-morbidity, to must-know clinical neurology, to diagnosis and treatment. Board-type review questions are used throughout, each with an answer, a detailed explanation, and one or more references to help direct more in-depth review as desired. Divided into six key sections for targeted topic review, this is the most comprehensive and effective way to prepare for exams.

The Jungle Effect: A Doctor Discovers the Healthiest Diets from Around the World–Why They Work and How to Bring Them Home

ISBN: 0061535656 Publisher: William Morrow Author: Daphne Miller

Description:
Pizza, pasta, hamburgers, sushi, tacos, and french fries . . . whether our ancestors were born in Madrid, Malaysia, or Mexico, chances are our daily food choices come from all around the globe. Unfortunately, we have taken some of the worst aspects of our varied ancestral menus to turn healthy cuisine into not-so-healthy junk food. Where did we go wrong? Why is it that non-Western immigrants are so much more susceptible to diabetes and other diet-related chronic diseases than white Americans? How is it possible that relatively poor native populations in Mexico and Africa have such low levels of the chronic diseases that plague the United States? What is the secret behind the extremely low rate of clinical depression in Iceland—a country where dreary weather is the norm? The Jungle Effect has the life-changing answers to these important questions, and many more. Dr. Daphne Miller undertook a worldwide quest to find diets that are both delicious and healthy. Written in a style reminiscent of Michael Pollan and Barbara Kingsolver, this book is filled with inspiring stories from Dr. Miller’s patients, quirky travel adventures, interviews with world-renowned food experts, delicious (yet authentic) indigenous recipes, and valuable diet secrets that will stick with you for a lifetime. Whether it’s the heart-healthy Cretan diet, with its reliance on olive oil and fresh vegetables; the antidepression Icelandic diet and its extremely high levels of Omega 3s; the age-defying Okinawa diet and its emphasis on vegetables and fish; or the other diets explored herein, everyone who reads this book will come away with the secrets of a longer, healthier life and the recipes necessary to put those secrets into effect.
